Fond and Festive Farewells

With the calendar year drawing to a close and the holidays fast approaching, we once again enjoy a number of annual traditions here at Trinity HCAD.  Those include some highlights full of joy and celebration, like First Reunion and Graduation, as well as some bittersweet moments such as the Holiday Party when we celebrate the end of the semester but have to say farewell to our second-year students who will soon scatter to begin their administrative residencies in different hospitals, cities, and markets.

It's sweet to think about all that these students have accomplished in just more than a year during their time in the program, and we marvel at their incredible development and growth over that short period of time.  They have evolved from "drinking water out of a fire hose" when it comes to becoming familiar with the health care industry at the beginning of the program, to now being competent and confident young professionals who will make a meaningful difference in the organizations they eagerly serve during their residencies.  More importantly, it's fun to celebrate the sweet friendships that have been formed, the lasting bonds that have been forged, and the many successes that have been marked during their 16 months together.  At the same time, the bitterness comes from knowing that the chapter defined by these formative experiences together is nearing the end, and moving forward, students will embark on their subsequent adventures independently.  That said, it's often noted around here that Trinity HCAD is more than a program or department...it's a family, so even as we all go our separate ways physically, we are always joined together in spirit, indelibly marked by our shared experiences and camaraderie.

So, this year, as we bring the Fall 2016 semester to a close, we wish a fond farewell to our second-year students who will now travel to their respective new homes and organizations to begin their year-long administrative residencies.  Congratulations on completing your coursework and on your many successes and achievements!  We look forward to staying connected as you progress through your residencies (which will truly fly by), and we look forward to having you all come back home to the HCAD family in a year, to celebrate your First Reunion when we graduate the Class of 2017!

...and we should also note, we're pretty excited about what lies ahead for our first-year on-campus students, who say farewell to their upperclassmen and now look forward to being "large and in charge" in the Spring 2017 semester!
