Alumni Weekend 2016

Each year October brings not only a long awaited break from summer temperatures in south Texas, but for the HCAD program it also brings our annual alumni weekend, when we celebrate the Trinity HCAD family and enjoy reconnecting across the alumni network.  This year was no exception, and first-year HCAD on-campus graduate student Camille Fagan shares the following account of the varied events:

This past weekend was Alumni Weekend for our Healthcare Administration Department! There was a great turnout as graduates spent the weekend reconnecting with old classmates and friends. Trinity Alumni Coordinator Elizabeth Ford worked closely with HCAD Alumni Association President Jim Bohnsack to host a series of events over the fun-filled weekend.

The first of these events was a Thursday lunch mixer between the HCAD Alumni Association's Board of Directors and the first-year on-campus HCAD students. Each Board member detailed their individual career paths and offered advice for the students’ residencies. The first years were thrilled to hear from the alumni, particularly about non-traditional residencies in consulting and big business.

Following the lunch was a dinner at Stonewerks to recognize our 2016 Momentum Award recipient, Mike Roussos (’03), and to celebrate the funding completion of the $100,000 Paul Golliher Scholarship Endowment Fund. Additionally, at the dinner we launched the new HCAD Annual Campaign. Roussos warmly accepted his award with a speech thanking his wife and recognizing the value of relationships forged through Trinity, and Dr. Golliher fittingly acknowledged his recognition with an Irish toast.

On Friday, the HCAD Alumni Association sponsored a golf tournament at the Quarry Golf Club. Alumni were paired up with current students, and the teams competed for best and worst performance! Even the rain didn’t stop the groups from having a great weekend.

As always, the Alumni Weekend is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with dear friends, to reflect upon time's passing and the changes it has brought, and to be thankful for the HCAD family and its continued impact on health care across the country.  We look forward to seeing our alumni again in October 2017!
