For this week’s Student Spotlight we’re interview Dr.Varshi Broumand, a member of the Executive Class of  2020 and a Nephrologist here in San Antonio! How did you hear of the TU HCAD Executive Program?   I heard of the program from the CMO at Christus Health and colleagues. What has been your favorite part of the program so far?   I’ve really enjoyed learning about the history of healthcare and health policy in our country and operations management. For this week's Student Spotlight, we're interviewing Samantha Echols, a member of the Executive Class of 2020 and  Lead Physical Therapist at St. David’s Surgical Hospital! How did you hear of the TU HCAD Executive Program? My rehab director – Crystal Milan. She has been the biggest influence for me to go back to school. What has been your favorite part of the program so far? For our first semester, I would have to say being on-campus to interact with classmates and the professors. How do you see the graduate degree benefiting your career advancement? I plan to switch gears from clinical to more professional.  My goal is to ultimately become a COO within the next 5 years.  This degree would allow me the education needed to understand the business aspect of that career. Today in our Student Spotlight series, we're going to be learning about Carol Richter ! Carol is a member of the Executive Healthcare Administration Program at Trinity and serves as a  Director in the Pediatric Surgical Unit at Methodist Children’s Hospital in San Antonio.      How did you hear of the TU HCAD Executive Program? I was attending Texas A&M Corpus for my MSN in nursing leadership, during my final semester I chose my preceptor for leadership who was an RN but had moved nto the operational side of healthcare and was the Sr. VP of Operations at our facility.   I chose him because my interest is also in operations and I wanted to learn more about his role.   Long story short, he recommended the Trinity MHA program, and at this same time our organization partnered with Trinity offering employees a tuition discount so I felt like it was meant to be.       What has been your favorite part of the program so far? ...

On Wednesday morning, both the first- and second-year classes of the Executive Program revisited the classic childhood experience of a field trip, but this trip required no parental consent forms or bus roll calls.  We gathered at University Hospital in the South Texas Medical Center ( http://www.universityhealthsystem.com/university-hospital/ ), where we spent over two hours learning about and touring University Hospital's recently completed (and gorgeous!) Sky Tower.  Our gracious hosts included Tim Brierty, CEO of University Hospital, and Karen Bryant, Vice President of Hospital Administration-Operations, who were extremely generous with their time, helpful in their responses to our many questions, and understandably proud of their new facility.   A beautiful morning in a beautiful building was a great way to kick off the final day of the on-campus session for the fall of 2014.  After wrapping up their courses on Wednesday, students headed their respective ...

We were thrilled to welcome our executive program students to campus this week, who completed three very full days of coursework to kick off the fall semester.  Of course, the intense on-campus sessions are now just part of the routine for the Class of 2015, who in their fourth semester will now be tackling the subjects of Health Care Human Resources Management and Health Care Finance.  In addition to welcoming back this great group of students, we also were excited to meet the Class of 2016, which looks to be a fantastic group with a wide range of experiences and perspectives.  These students were quickly oriented to the program and to Trinity University on Monday before diving into coursework in Health Services Organization and Policy as well as Quantitative Methods.
